Our greatest goal is to give you a healthy, straight, beautiful smile. We understand that choosing to receive orthodontic care is a big decision, and we respect your reasons for wanting to improve the way you look and feel. Our practice will work with you every step of the way to make sure that your orthodontic care is as rewarding as possible.
OUR RESPONSE AND MEASURES WE HAVE TAKEN TO PROTECT THE SAFETY OF PATIENTS AND STAFF DURING THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK.
Although we are now open and anxious to see all our patients, we hope you can appreciate the task ahead and kindly ask for your understanding and consideration.
-We will be operating on an altered schedule to comply with the new guidelines. We are reducing the number of patients allowed in the office at one time and lengthening appointment times. As such, you may be offered fewer options for scheduling appointments.
-If you do not have an appointment we will not be able to admit you to the office. No walk-ins are permitted.
- Our emergency policy remains the same.
New Standards and Procedures
Our office has a new look and we may have a new way of doing things but what has not changed is our amazing staff, and our commitment to providing our patients with orthodontic care in a comfortable and caring environment.
Outlined below are a number of changes implemented to ensure a safe environment for our patients and staff during the ongoing pandemic.
Before the Appointment
-You will receive your email and/or phone appointment reminder.
-We will be e-mailing you a screening questionnaire in advance of your appointment. It is important you read and understand the content.
-Teeth must be brushed and flossed prior to the appointment. We have temporarily closed our brushing stations.
-Nothing cold or hot to drink 30 minutes prior to the appointment as it may influence the patient’s temperature reading
-When you arrive for your appointment, we will ask you to remain in the car and call or text us. We will review the screening questionnaire with you and inform you when you may enter the office.
-We ask that only the patient attend the appointment. Our waiting room will be closed until further notice. We cannot accommodate siblings, friends or other visitors at this time. If you feel a parent/guardian needs to attend the appointment we will be available to discuss this with you during our scheduling phone conversation.
-Masks or face coverings are required while in the office. Please feel free to bring your own mask, cloth covering or other face covering.
-The patient’s temperature will be taken and they will be escorted to the appropriate treatment area.
During the Appointment
-Patients will be seen in the clinic under strict social distancing guidelines.
-In addition to masks and gloves, all clinical staff will be wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) appropriate to their role. This may include face shields and gowns. Please note that only the patient and the staff are permitted in the treatment area.
After the Appointment
Once the appointment is completed, the patient will be escorted out of the office. We will schedule the next appointment via phone and provide any updates regarding treatment.
Our new office look
The patient will notice several changes in both our reception and treatment areas of the office.
We have installed plexi-glass sneeze shields in our reception area and have blocked off most seating. Social distancing reminders have been posted. Our brushing areas are closed. The restrooms are open but we are discouraging their use.
We have always practiced a stringent sterilization protocol and will continue to do so with a few added measures. We have renovated our lower level treatment area to provide three separated treatment rooms and updated our ventilation system to be in adherence with the new government standards. We have implemented additional staff infection control protocols such as wearing office-only clothing and foot wear, daily covid-19 screening, daily temperature recording and practicing social distancing throughout the day to just mention a few.
We want to assure you that all these procedures are designed to create the safest environment for our patients and team. We greatly appreciate your patience, co-operation and consideration as we move forward with the re-opening of our clinic. You are important to us and we are working very hard to continue to provide you with orthodontic care that exceeds your expectations.
We wish you and your family continued good health as we all move towards the time this pandemic becomes just a memory.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
The Staff at Taylor-Edwards at Hamilton Orthodontics
Every smile starts with an initial complimentary new patient exam!
Your initial new patient exam appointment will give you the opportunity to meet our team, learn more about orthodontics, receive a complete initial exam, and find out which treatment options will best meet your needs. During your initial exam we will:
- Review your dental and medical history forms
- Provide a complete oral exam, possibly with X-rays, to determine if treatment is necessary
Our team will be glad to answer any questions you may have, and we will provide all of the information that you need to determine which treatment is right for you. Please contact our practice to schedule your complimentary new patient exam appointment.
What happens after the initial exam?
You're one step closer to achieving the smile you've always wanted! After your exam, we will schedule two related appointments. The first appointment is to gather diagnostic information to assist the Doctors in determining the ideal approach to your orthodontic treatment. The second appointment is to discuss, in detail, the customized treatment plan best suited to treat your orthodontic condition, schedule appointments to start treatment, discuss financial fees and formalize a payment plan and insurance claim submissions.
Visiting the orthodontist about every four to twelve weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.
We understand that “life happens”! If you're running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. When you're ready to schedule your first appointment, contact our practice and our friendly scheduling coordinator will assist you. We look forward to working with you.
Visiting the Dentist during Orthodontic Treatment
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is necessary, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you receive the care you need.
