Dr. Barbara Hart (Sterniczuk)
M.Sc., D.M.D., D.Ortho.
Dr. Hart is very happy to be serving the people of Hamilton. She believes in a patient-centric approach to orthodontic treatment and seeks to deeply understand her patients’ unique needs. Dr. Hart greatly enjoys connecting with her patients and celebrating them as they go through their smile journey. She continuously strives to master new techniques and technologies through her professional affiliations with Invisalign, the Ontario Dental Association, the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, and American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Hart attended Queen’s University where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with a Minor in French studies. She also completed a Master’s degree in Anatomy at Queen’s, where she researched the genetic link associated with blood clotting and cancer. Upon graduation, Dr. Hart then worked in Oakville for several years as a painting contractor and colour consultant, where she gained an appreciation for esthetics and design. Realizing that a career in oral healthcare would enable to her to design beautiful smiles, Dr. Hart then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where she was awarded the William S. Kramer Award of Excellence, the Pierre Fauchard Oral Health Scholarship Award, and the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Award before graduating at the top of her class. Dr. Hart continued her education at the University of Rochester Eastman Institute where she earned her specialty certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She also enjoyed teaching others throughout her dental education, having completed the American Dental Education Association Dental Careers Fellowship.
Dr. Hart is of Polish background and delights in every opportunity to practice her Polish and French. In her spare time, Dr. Hart loves to hit the slopes at Blue Mountain with her partner, Dennis. She also enjoys hiking with her dog, soaking up the sun at the beach, getting inspired with Home & Garden television, and wine tasting in the Niagara region.
